AI has become an increasing problem in schools and learning environments. Students and teachers have grown an over-reliance on it and there is a noticeable usage of it in promotional material and posters around the school. This is incredibly demoralizing and frustrating, especially for the artists of the school who feel like their work, skill, and creativity is undervalued. AI not only harms and disrupts students' learning processes, it can negatively affect mood and morale just from its presence around the school. Even though the school claims to discourage AI usage in schoolwork, what kind of example are they setting by using AI themselves? 

While AI SHOULD be used ethically and in a way that doesn't replace real effort and learning, there unfortunately aren't enough regulations in place to prevent AI misuse,  nor are there enough consequences in school that deter students from using it to cheat. 

By signing this petition you are in support of removal of AI usage in school from both teachers and students, including but not limited to:

The usage of AI generated promotional material, posters, logos, graphic design, etc.

Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini used in the process of making or completing schoolwork. 

Putting in place real consequences and deterrents from using AI to cheat on schoolwork.
