The Sask Party is one of the most conservative provincial governments in the country and has been extremely explicit in targeting the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community here in Saskatchewan. Just last year we saw unprecedented use of the notwithstanding clause against Two Spirit, trans, and non-binary youth to push Bill 137 into law as well as the appointment of several underqualified Sask Party donors to the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission.

In light of this several pride boards around the province, including Queen City Pride and Prince Albert Pride, have chosen to step up for their community and ban all Sask Party MLAs from their events. Saskatoon Pride however, has not, citing a blind review process for all large organizations.

This non-response is incredibly insufficient to say the least. 2SLGBTQIAP+ people in Saskatoon deserve better from the board. Per their AGM last year "...we can no longer be just party planners...we will and should be called upon to rise to the calls for advocacy and activism in our bylaws."

We call upon Saskatoon Pride to use their platform and their access to speak up for the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community in Saskatoon by banning all Sask Party MLAs from attending the pride parade as well as all other pride events. No more shiny parties, we want social change now.
