The sound of fireworks might bring joy and celebration to some, but for many, it echoes with distress and fear. I have personally witnessed the anxiety and terror fireworks can inflict on my elderly relatives, our cherished pets, and even wildlife. Every year, as the fireworks season approaches, the cacophony disrupts not just our homes, but the natural habitat around us. For individuals with mental disabilities, the unexpected explosions can be particularly unbearable, leading to heightened anxiety and panic attacks.

It's time we address the repercussions of this issue seriously. Globally, every year, numerous reports detail the negative impacts of fireworks. According to a research study, pet owners report that their pets experience anxiety during fireworks displays. Moreover, elderly people with pre-existing heart conditions can find these sudden noises immensely stressful, exacerbating their health issues.

The environmental impact is another critical factor. Fireworks release harmful chemicals and heavy metals into the atmosphere, contributing to air and noise pollution. This is an increasing concern as many cities across the world are battling with air quality issues.

Local and national authorities should take decisive action by implementing a ban on the sale and private use of fireworks.

Households waste a lot of money on fireworks, causing them to be stuck during January, not having funds for schoolfees, stationary and even groceries.  This result in a lot of begging and pleading on various platforms.
