I work closely with a rescue that often witnesses kittens and cats being sold or given away on Facebook, only to be used for cat bait, fighting, or are often neglected. This heartbreaking reality is not isolated; countless animals suffer due to the unregulated sale and advertisement of pets online. According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters every year (ASPCA). Many of these animals are victims of irresponsible rehoming practices.

Although Facebook does not allow the sale of animals through its site, it is still widely practiced. Many pets being advertised in groups and often rehomed without the right checks in place. 

By banning the sale and advertisement of animals for rehoming on platforms like Facebook, we can reduce these cruel practices and ensure that more pets find safe and loving homes through reputable channels. Please sign this petition to protect vulnerable animals from exploitation and neglect!
