Ban the Islamic Republic of Iran National Soccer Team from the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Ban the Islamic Republic of Iran National Soccer Team from the 2026 FIFA World Cup
The Issue
We, the undersigned, call on FIFA to immediately suspend and ban the Islamic Republic of Iran from participating in the FIFA World Cup and all international football competitions.
At this very moment, people in Iran—many of them children and teenagers—are being violently suppressed for peacefully demanding their most basic human rights: freedom, dignity, and a future. Security forces of the Islamic Republic have responded with live ammunition, mass arrests, torture, and brutal force against unarmed civilians.
This is not politics.
This is humanity.
A government that kills its own people—especially children—cannot be allowed to appear on the world’s biggest sporting stage as if nothing is happening. International sports are meant to unite people, promote peace, and uphold shared human values. Allowing a regime responsible for widespread killings and systematic human rights violations to participate directly contradicts those principles.
FIFA has acted before. Russia was banned from international competitions following its actions in Ukraine. That decision sent a clear message: sports cannot be separated from grave human rights violations. The same standard must apply here.
This petition is not against the people of Iran—they are the primary victims of this violence. It is against the Islamic Republic of Iran, a regime that rules through fear, bullets, and repression.
By banning the Islamic Republic of Iran from the FIFA World Cup, FIFA would send a clear and powerful message:
Killing civilians has consequences
Children’s lives are not expendable
Human rights matter more than politics or profit
Silence equals complicity.
The world must not look away.
We urge FIFA to stand on the right side of history.
