Over the past months, our community has worked hard to bring attention to the growing impacts of hooning, street racing, dangerous driving and excessive vehicle noise across Barangaroo and surrounding precincts.
While many residents have shared their experiences directly with us, we now need broader community data to help demonstrate the true scale of the problem — not only for residents, but also for local businesses, workers, visitors, tourism operators and the wider public.
We have therefore launched a Community Survey on Hooning and Street Racing.
The survey aims to better understand how these behaviours are affecting:
Liveability
Sleep and mental health
Safety and wellbeing
Property values
Local business activity
Tourism and accommodation
Perception and enjoyment of public spaces
The results will help support:
discussions with government agencies,
policy and legislative submissions,
future advocacy campaigns,
community engagement initiatives, and
evidence-based solutions.
Importantly, all responses are anonymous and will only be used in aggregated form.
The survey takes approximately 7–10 minutes to complete.
We strongly encourage:
residents,
apartment owners,
tenants,
local businesses,
hospitality workers,
visitors, and
anyone affected by excessive vehicle noise or dangerous driving
to participate and share the survey with others.
This survey has been organised by Melanie Tait and Cedric Lee AM, and survey findings will be shared with participants and relevant stakeholders.
