Hi everyone
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/765997#main-content
I hope you are all well. You may remember from the last update that Wildwood had sent their post mortem results. This only said that the injuries sustained would have made it illegal to keep the wolves alive. I have asked for the actual post mortem results or at least a redacted version which still hasn't been sent.
This is now (as you can tell from the headline) a campaign with a name. We are officially now:
The Wildwood 5 Wolves: Never Again Campaign
I have also reposted the petition government link which has slowed too much. We need to get these numbers up.
We are so close to 25,000 signatures here as well. I have sent emails, to Ricky Gervais, Chris Packman and Sir Brian May, and I'm hoping the the Born Free Foundation could also push Joanna Lumley to help too.
My visit to Wolf Watch UK was absolutely amazing. The enclosures were absolutely huge, one was practically the size of a field. I got to feed my wolf Anja who I sponsor. There are 3 beautiful wolves there and the gentleman who runs the sanctuary is a true gentleman and hero for these beautiful animals.
While me may not be able to rewilded wolves here in the UK due to lack of green space and that danger of them being hunted, the UK is ideal as a sanctuary country. Even in America where there is more space, wolves still wander into toes and get killed. Only in Europe is it viable, HOWEVER, we can at least change the legislations.
Zoo legislations are 45 years old which is absolutely ridiculous. This means that in an uncontrollable situation, the option is to euthanize.
If we can get an independent vet to do 6 monthly inspections of the animals, a complete overhaul of enclosures of wolves must be kept in a zoo, meaning bigger space, push pens, secondary enclosures, etc, and most importantly if that point of euthanasia is reached, zoos and wildlife parks MUST provide proof that they tried everything to save the wolves and that includes proving they contacted sanctuaries.
The two gentlemen I met with at the park were very pleasant to speak and answered my questions. They allowed me time to myself when I broke down at the enclosure. I'm not looking for photos of the injuries as that, I couldn't face, but a redacted version of the post mortem would help.
Thank you so so much for the kind comments you've offered on the music video. It allowed me to also offer a thank you individually. You're support in this campaign is heartwarming. We are a pack of almost 25,000. Let's keep pushing.
