The Issue

Reading Plus, a widely used educational platform, has become a significant concern for both students and educators. As someone who has directly experienced its shortcomings, I am passionate about advocating for its removal from schools nationwide.

First and foremost, Reading Plus places an undue financial burden on educational institutions. Many schools invest substantial amounts of money into this program, believing it will benefit their students. However, these funds could be better allocated towards educational resources that genuinely enhance learning experiences and improve student outcomes.

Moreover, Reading Plus often exacerbates stress and anxiety among students. Its repetitive and monotonous tasks do not inspire a love for reading but rather make it a chore. This negative experience can diminish students' mental well-being, reducing their engagement and interest in learning. The platform's focus on speed and progression rather than comprehension and enjoyment neglects the core values of education.

The effectiveness of Reading Plus in improving literacy skills has been questioned by educators and experts. Empirical evidence suggests that alternative programs with a more student-centered approach have demonstrated better results. Programs that prioritize engagement and foster a genuine enthusiasm for reading are likely to have a much more positive impact on students' educational journeys.

In light of these issues, I urge the developers of Reading Plus to reconsider the current structure of their platform and for schools to discontinue its use. Investing in educational tools that truly cater to the diverse learning needs of students is crucial to fostering a healthier, more effective educational environment.

Please join me in this important cause to ban Reading Plus from all schools by signing this petition. Your support could make a meaningful difference for students across the nation, ensuring they receive the education they deserve.
