I am writing to you with a heavy heart, filled with anger and frustration over the heinous crimes that women and children endure daily. It is unbearable to think about the traumatic experiences that many face simply because of their gender or age. What's even more infuriating is that the perpetrators, those who commit these vile acts, are often not held accountable. They walk free, leaving the victims to deal with the aftermath of the horror on their own.

The statistics are alarming and paint a grim picture. According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. For children, the statistics are equally distressing. It's time we take a firm stand against these atrocities and ensure that justice is served.

Our current laws and enforcement practices are not sufficient to protect the vulnerable, nor do they adequately punish offenders. Many laws don't even classify sexual violence with the severity it deserves, and this leads to lenient sentences that are a slap on the wrist compared to the trauma inflicted. We urgently need more stringent laws to classify these acts as the severe crimes they are. This includes mandatory arrest policies for perpetrators, stricter sentencing, and ensuring that all cases of rape and sexual assault are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.

We also need comprehensive support systems for survivors. Psychological support, protection from further harm, and rehabilitation must be prioritized to help them reclaim their lives. This isn't just a legal issue; it's a societal one. We need public education and awareness campaigns to change how these crimes are perceived, reducing stigma and encouraging victims to report these offenses.

Inaction is not an option. Every passing day without significant legal reform and societal change means more individuals risk becoming victims of these horrendous crimes. We owe it to current and future generations to create a safer environment where women and children are heard, protected, and justice is undeniably served.
