🛑 Ban Porn in Nigeria. It’s Destroying Lives Silently

The Issue

To:
The National Assembly of Nigeria
The Ministry of Communications
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)
And all relevant authorities concerned with public safety and digital access.

  WHY WE'RE SIGNING

I still sometimes battle this addiction. But I’m no longer silent, and I don’t care what people say.

I’ve done everything, within and outside my power, to stop. And I know I’m not alone. So many others are quietly struggling in shame and silence.

My own journey began in church. I walked in on a group of teenagers watching explicit content on a phone. That moment planted something in me. Curiosity turned into a pattern. And eventually, a stronghold.

From sneaking through people’s phones looking for hidden folders… to long hours in bathrooms with internet access… to inappropriate conversations with strangers… it spiraled into something that almost wrecked my life.

Porn wasn’t even this accessible then. Look at the damage it caused.
Now, with content everywhere and smartphones in every hand, it’s a silent epidemic.

And it’s not just on adult websites anymore.
Sexual themes and suggestive scenes are now being quietly slipped into animated shows, cartoons, and even games that young people consume daily. This subtle exposure fuels early curiosity and opens the door to deeper addictions. When children can’t tell what’s safe anymore, we’ve already failed them.

This is not just about morality. It’s about mental health, addiction, protection, and healing.
We need to protect the next generation at all costs.
And this petition is a sacrifice we must make—to give them what we didn’t have: a clean, clear chance.

  WHAT WE'RE DEMANDING

We call on Nigerian lawmakers and regulators to:
 1. Restrict access to pornographic websites and apps within Nigeria.
 2. Implement nationwide digital filters, especially in schools and youth institutions.
 3. Run national awareness campaigns on porn addiction and its mental effects.
 4. Hold platforms and service providers accountable for allowing unregulated access to adult content.

  WHY THIS MATTERS

• Porn addiction is real, and it’s affecting teens, adults, and children alike.
• It contributes to mental health issues, isolation, destructive behaviors, and spiritual decline.
• Most victims suffer in silence, especially in conservative homes, schools, and churches.
• This isn’t about policing. It’s about protecting innocence and preserving mental clarity.

This petition is not a complaint. It’s a call for help, and a declaration that we can’t stay silent anymore.
