✨ Ban Plastic Glitter — Let’s Make the World Sparkle Safely
The Issue
Every day in the cancer institute where I work, I see something that breaks my heart—patients who are younger than ever, with no family history or obvious cause, facing life-changing diagnoses. It’s impossible not to wonder: What’s happening to us?
Among the countless toxins we unknowingly invite into our lives, microplastic pollution has become a silent, invisible threat. These tiny plastic particles—found in our food, our water, and even our air—are now being discovered inside human organs and bloodstreams. Some studies suggest they may contribute to cancer, heart attacks, and reproductive issues.
And one of the most unnecessary sources of this pollution? Plastic glitter.
That same sparkle we use on cards, makeup, and decorations is made of microplastic that never goes away. It slips through drains, floats into rivers and oceans, and ends up right back in our bodies. What we see as harmless shimmer is slowly becoming a glittering poison—beautiful, but deadly.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
We already have safe, biodegradable glitter alternatives that shine just as bright without harming the planet or our health. With one small change, we can protect marine life, reduce pollution, and help ensure that no one’s sparkle comes at the cost of someone else’s health.
By signing this petition, you’re helping call for a ban on plastic glitter—a simple but powerful step toward cleaner oceans, safer products, and a healthier future for everyone. Let’s choose to shine responsibly and show the world that not all that glitters has to harm. ✨💚
