Ban Non-Compete Agreements in Texas

Ban Non-Compete Agreements in Texas
The Issue
Working for a company that treats its employees poorly can be a nightmare. A company that fosters a hostile and toxic work environment can stifle personal growth and well-being. Unfortunately, due to restrictive non-compete agreements, many employees in Texas are unable to leave these situations for better opportunities at competing companies that value and take care of their workforce.
This issue is not just about my experience; it's a widespread concern affecting thousands of Texans who are trapped in jobs that fail to meet basic standards of employee welfare. These non-compete clauses limit job mobility and suppress workers' rights, keeping them shackled to unhealthy work environments without the freedom to seek refuge in more supportive and positive workplaces.
Thankfully, change may be on the horizon. Texas Representative Christina Morales (D) has introduced Texas House Bill 4067 (HB 4067) on March 7, 2025. This groundbreaking bill seeks to prohibit most non-compete agreements across the state. If passed, it will grant Texas workers the much-needed liberty to transfer their talents and labor to companies that recognize the importance of employee well-being and fair treatment.
Non-compete agreements are outdated and unjust. They serve only to protect company interests at the expense of employee rights. It is time for Texas to take a stand. By supporting HB 4067, we can move towards a more equitable job market, where employees are free to seek out employers that align better with their values and career aspirations.
Sign this petition to urge Texas lawmakers to support HB 4067 and eliminate restrictive non-compete clauses. Let us create a Texas where workers are empowered to choose workplaces that nurture and foster their potential. Your signature can help push this bill forward and make a significant difference in the lives of countless Texans.
