Ban Kill Shelters in the United States

Ban Kill Shelters in the United States
The Issue
Ban the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals nationwide. Implement no kill shelter practices and provide funding to support humane alternatives.
📣 Petition to Ban Kill Shelters in the United States
To: The United States Congress and Department of Agriculture (USDA)
Goal: 1,500,000 Signatures
Stop the Euthanasia of Healthy, Adoptable Shelter Animals
Each year in the United States, an estimated 920,000 shelter animals including 390,000 dogs and 530,000 cats are euthanized. Many of these animals are healthy and adoptable, but they’re put down simply due to overcrowding, limited resources, or arbitrary time limits. This is a national tragedy.
We, the undersigned, call on the U.S. government to:
Ban the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals in all public and private shelters.
Mandate a nationwide transition to no kill shelter models, including community-based fostering, TNR (trap, neuter, return) programs for feral cats, and improved adoption outreach.
Provide federal funding and support to help shelters implement humane, life saving alternatives.
We are a nation of pet lovers yet we allow these innocent lives to be discarded. With modern tools, community support, and policy reform, no animal should die simply for being homeless.
Other cities and states have proven no kill success is possible, it’s time to make it national.
Sign and share to demand change. Help us reach 1.5 million voices calling for compassion, reform, and an end to kill shelters in America.
