This is to ask for your support in requesting an independent international investigation in the explosion that rocked Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon on August 4th, 2020. Please help us, by signing this petition.
The massive explosion that devastated the city of Beirut resulted in more than 5000 casualties between dead, injured and missing and a catastrophic destruction of public and private property within a 20 mile-radius (35 KM). The nature of the explosion and the extent of the damage is beyond the capacity and competence of the authorities of Lebanon to investigate, let alone to deal with.
The Lebanese authorities have exhibited utmost negligence vis-à-vis the protection of the city and its inhabitants. This negligence may turn out to be criminal in nature if elements of the government are implicated or complicit in the events leading up to the explosion. Hence they are not in a position to run an independent, unbiased and reliable investigation; add to that, trust in the local capabilities and in the integrity of the government and its authorities is absent. 
A suspect in a crime cannot be the investigator and the judge.
