It is unethical and influential for the Jericho Teachers Association (JTA) and any teachers, school staff, or administration to get involved in school elections. The elected board members vote on their contracts, creating a conflict of interest. The JTA represents a large group of people who don’t all agree with their choice. Allowing endorsements, support, or financial contributions from these groups undermines the integrity of our educational system. Certain teachers calling parents, ringing doorbells, texting, leaving voicemails and promoting specific candidates and funding specific campaigns and not others is not appropriate.
