Hello and greetings my fellow petitioners.
Today it is the 17th of February 2024 and the destruction and ethnic cleansing in Gaza has continued for over 4 months.
Today it is called for a global action day, to stop the genocide on Palestinians, so please take time to walk (if only for a while) in your local protests, there is power in numbers and we know that by now.
But back to my headline question.
It is now painfully obvious to many of us that Israels armed forces has executed, not only human beings, children, elderly, mothers, fathers, and even animals in Gaza.
The number of casualties is on a constant rise and as of the latest number I saw that closer to 14 000 children has been murdered,
You can´t even imagine how many children that is, how many schools, daycare centers and playgrounds would house 14 000 children. Unfathomable.
As we see the complete destruction of Gaza, I can´t help to think about why Israels army are so determined to destroy everything. Living or dead (as in buildings) in the Gaza territorium.
The hospitals in particular. Remember the "first" big news about a hospital being bombed i Gaza? How the news was "not sure" who had bombed? Was it Israel or was it a bomb from inside Gaza that failed? Well, as of today we all can see who did that bombing. And the plan Israel seems to have is getting clearer to us every minute.
There shall be NO way for the Palestinian people to stay in Gaza to revive their everyday life and to recover, as a people, culture or inhabitants of the Gaza territory.
The building of a "buffer zone" for people to move, from Gaza to Egypt right outside of Rafah is also very eerie and unsettling.
As I read thru the comments on this petition the other day, someone mentioned that the US only gets involved in wars when there is money, natural resources and things that benefit them financially, and that is very true. Then, when good old Joe B, the other day in a press conference, mistakenly said - Our operation, when referring to the ongoing Genocide in Gaza it became obvious that something is a given...
So I googled, (my favorite activity)"Israel", "Palestine" "Natural resources" and "Oil" and "Gas".
And lo and behold, this is what i found. I found an article written in June 2021, by Mahmoud Elkhafif that was published by Aljazeera. Quote below.
After Israel’s latest military operation, and the ensuing massive devastation in Gaza, the international community has pledged hundreds of millions of dollars to help with the reconstruction of the Strip. However, a lasting end to conflict between Israel and Palestine will not be possible without long-term investment in Palestine’s economic and human development, running into billions of dollars per year.
An overlooked means of generating these revenues would be to allocate Palestine its fair share of benefits of oil and natural gas reserves in the occupied territories and the Eastern Mediterranean, which are currently being exploited only by Israel.

The Israeli military occupation of Palestinian territories since 1967 and the blockade of the Gaza Strip since 2007 have prevented the Palestinian people from exercising any control over their own fossil fuel resources, denying them much-needed fiscal and export revenues and leaving the Palestinian economy on the verge of collapse.
The economic costs inflicted on the Palestinian people under occupation are well documented: tight restrictions on the movement of people and goods; the confiscation and destruction of property and assets; loss of land, water and other natural resources; a fragmented domestic market and separation from neighbouring and international markets; and the expansion of Israeli settlements that are illegal under international law.

If this isn´t a reason for the US to be so extremely invested in this genocide and complete destruction of Gaza, I don´t know what is.
But, what do I know. I´m just a girl who wants Israel out of Eurovision Song Contest.
This ends my update for today. But I hope we as a collective, can and will change the outcome for Gaza and it´s people.
Free Palestine and end this ongoing genocide!
