Dear supporters,
I am excited to report that we crossed the 100-signature mark! This milestone shows that we are not alone in our concerns about Proctorio and other online proctoring tools. Together, we're building a movement to protect students' right to privacy.
For those of you who don't know, I did an interview with KSL News a little over a month ago to talk about the ethical and legal concerns of Proctorio, as well as the fight to ban it at the University of Utah. This story is set to be published sometime in November, which will bring more attention to the issue, and I believe it can be a turning point in our campaign.
As a reminder, if you are required to use Proctorio or other online proctoring software such as Respondus or Honorlock, DO NOT install it on your personal device. Instead, you should use a school computer which you can borrow from the library. Proctorio's access permissions and data collection practices raise serious privacy concerns, even if they say otherwise.
If you know others who care about their privacy or are frustrated with invasive proctoring tools, please share this petition with them!
Thank you again for your support. Together, we can make a difference and ban invasive, illegal online proctoring software at the University of Utah.
Sincerely,
Eric Sheffer
