Ban I-Ready: Protecting Student's Education and Privacy in the United States
The Issue
I-Ready, an educational software program used by schools across the United States, claims to offer personalized learning experiences for students. However, many educators, parents, and students have reported significant issues with the program.
Firstly, I-Ready's curriculum is often criticized for being too easy or too difficult for students, leading to frustration and disengagement. Furthermore, the program relies heavily on multiple-choice questions, which do not adequately assess a student's critical thinking or problem-solving skills.
Secondly, I-Ready collects a vast amount of sensitive data on students, including their browsing history, keystrokes, and even their facial expressions. This invasion of privacy is concerning and potentially puts students at risk.
Therefore, we are calling for a ban on I-Ready in the United States. We believe that students deserve a high-quality education that is not compromised by poorly designed educational software or invasive data collection practices. Join us in this important cause and sign our petition to protect students' education and privacy.
Another problem with I-ready is the flawed diagnostic test which puts students at their grade level of learning regardless if they are ahead or behind their classmates in learning and education. This is a problem because it can decelerate students learning regardless if they are below or ahead of their grade level.
Due to criticism, I-ready released an article stating how I-ready is positive for learning which isn't uncommon for curriculum associates. Their sources were from studies that were flawed, and they show a clear bias being the company that produced I-ready.
I-Ready has also been accused of taking down videos criticizing their app using copyright claims with no legal basis so they can delete the videos. This method has been used by companies in the past to get rid of criticism towards their app or company. These claims are likely to be true as they have a substantial amount of evidence.
