Ban Harmful Food Additives in Canada

Ban Harmful Food Additives in Canada
Le problème
In today's world, parents like me are constantly on the lookout to ensure the health and safety of our children. This commitment has led me to a concerning discovery. Several chemicals and food additives are permitted in the United States which have been banned in many other countries for health reasons.Parabens are a family of synthetic compounds derived from para-hydroxybenzoic acid (PHBA).
They’re used mainly as preservatives to stop the growth of mould, bacteria, and yeast. These include Potassium Bromate, Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA), Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT), Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO), and Ractopamine, among others. Why are these substances, proven to be harmful, still present in the foods we consume and, more importantly, in the foods our children consume? Ban 12/12 bad chemicals in food and more.
For example, Potassium Bromate is banned in the European Union, China, and other places because it has been linked to cancer in animal studies. Similarly, BHA and BHT are under scrutiny due to their potential carcinogenic effects according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
Brominated Vegetable Oil, commonly found in citrus-flavored drinks, is banned in many countries due to its association with health issues such as nerve disorders when consumed in significant amounts.
Ractopamine, used to promote leanness in meat, is banned in 160 countries including those in the EU, China, and Russia due to potential adverse effects on the cardiovascular system and behavior. Yet, it finds its way to our markets, unlabelled, and hence, into our homes.
Artificial colors like Red 40, Brilliant Blue FCF (Blue 1), and Yellow 5 & 6, although regularly used in many children's foods, have been linked to hyperactivity and other behavioral issues in children, leading to bans or regulations in several regions globally.
As a parent committed to the well-being of the next generation, I urge all Canadians and Members of Parliament to take immediate action. We need to protect our children from these potentially harmful substances and ensure a safer future for them.
Please join me in demanding clear and immediate action from our MPs by voting in the next Parliament session to ban these substances. Your signature can help kickstart legislative changes towards healthier, safer food regulation in Canada. Sign this petition to make a real difference in safeguarding our children's health.
