Ban glue traps and poison from Michigan

Ban glue traps and poison from Michigan
The Issue
As you may remember, I've petitioned for the ban of glue traps from Walmart and Ebels and for the recall of rodent poison.
But now we're here with a new idea to fight this animal killing crisis state wide.
That idea is to ban all glue trap and rodent poison products from the state of Michigan.
Once again I know that rodents can be problematic for some people but glue traps and poison are very cruel ways to kill these animals, both ways can cause prolonged suffering for up to a week before the animal succumbs to things like blood loss, suffocation, shock, malnourishment, and dehydration.
I rescue and work with rodents myself and remember the fact I've never been bit by one except for one time years ago because I thought catching them and killing them was "awesome" as a child.
I learned my lesson when that injured mouse in that snap trap swung around on his broken back leg and latched onto my thumb drawing blood.
Since then I've learned that rescuing them is much kinder and safer.
Plus these "pest" control methods are extremely bad for our ecosystem and wildlife.
I know that our Michigan wildlife is beautiful and unique.
But glue traps can trap a lot of this wildlife as well, animals such as small birds, even larger birds occasionally, bats, lizards, snakes, squirrels, chipmunks, even domestic animals such as cats, dogs, and parrots can get stuck and hurt in these traps too.
Even children can get hurt on them.
I've felt the stickiness of one of these traps although it said on the box "safe for pets and children", that is a lie. The glue felt like tar and it stuck to my hands horribly, it took forever to wash off, I knew right there and then that glue traps are definitely inhumane.
The problem with poison is that this doesn't leave a mouse or rat stuck and suffering, meaning the animal can leave and go outside as soon as they consume the poison.
Which leaves the animal vulnerable to a massive number of predatory animals such as snakes, birds of prey, coyotes, wolves, large cats, raccoons, opossums, and once again even domestic animals like cats and dogs.
When these predators see a slow moving or even a recently dead mouse, that's easy prey for them.
But a poisoned mouse can also kill these predators as well through secondary poisoning, which is how many predatory animals become endangered, the bald eagle was once endangered because of rodent poison and wild cats in other states that turn up dead are testing positive for rodent poison in their systems.
Rodent poison also has dangers to children just as much as glue traps, it is estimated that around 10,000 children are administered to hospitals for rodent poison injury every year.
Not only do these harmful and cruel "pest" control methods make the jobs of wildlife rehabilitators like myself more difficult, they're also a major threat to the state of Michigan as a whole for our geography and our children..
So please consider this proposal for a new bill and thanks for reading.
