Generative AI holds no place in an artistic and educational setting. 

AI is not an unstoppable force, but everyday as things progress and the technology advances, the danger of AI becomes clear.

BU as a whole needs to establish a ban and halt  all generative AI use and development until proper ethical regulations get put on AI. Not only are the climate effects known, the danger is present and new studies reveal a negative correlation between AI use and brain function. And there are still so many unknowns. We don't know the long term effects data centers have on the families and animals that live next to them, we don't know the motivations of the billionaires pushing for the advancement of AI, and we don't know if Human Creation is safe. Which is why especially now we need to fight to protect it. 

Aside from an artists viewpoint, there are many reasons to call for a ban or regulation on AI. I want to inform you of Adam Raine who was 16 when he took his own life last year in 2025. He found solace in ChatGPT who was portraying itself as a friend that Adam could talk to about his suicidal thoughts. ChatGPT encouraged him to distance himself from family and friends claiming that they wouldn't care and even offered to help write his suicide note. 

This is a terrible tragedy that could have been prevented if proper regulations had been placed on ChatGPT, which is why we NEED to call for these bans and regulations.

The true goal of this petition is to create precedent. You may think that one college in one university banning Generative AI may not mean much. But it opens pathways for other colleges and schools to realize that they have a choice, that they have agency, that they can choose the scale in which AI will affect their future. That's the kind of change that spreads and creates nationwide unrest. Your voice matters and could very well be the one that protects not only Human Creation, but Humanity.
