Many students living near commercial buildings on campus are regularly disturbed by early morning garbage collection, which may occur multiple times a week. While we appreciate the essential work of waste disposal and respect the workers, the noise from these collections often wakes students early in the morning, disrupting their sleep.

As students, we know how vital adequate sleep is for academic success, mental well-being, and overall health. The current noise disturbance in the early hours is negatively impacting our sleep schedules and daily academic performance.

The existing city ordinance permits trash collection in alleys from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., as well as 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. By signing this petition, you support changing the permitted alley collection time from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., giving students the opportunity for uninterrupted rest and better academic performance.
