Ban Fur Farming in the EU – 2027 Is Too Late!

Ban Fur Farming in the EU – 2027 Is Too Late!
Das Problem
Fur farming is still a huge industry in the EU, with Poland among the top producers. Every year, millions of animals like mink, foxes, raccoon dogs, and chinchillas are bred and killed in European fur farms—often in tiny wire cages, suffering immensely, just for luxury fashion.
Many EU countries have already banned fur farming, but it is still allowed in some, including:
Finland, Greece, Poland, and Bulgaria (where a ban was passed but is now suspended).
Romania and Lithuania have passed bans—but they only take effect in 2027. Latvia's ban will be implemented in 2028.
Spain has announced it will ban fur farming by 2030.
In Romania alone, it’s estimated that 15,000 chinchillas will be killed before the ban takes effect.
🔗 Four Paws: 15,000 chinchillas will die before 2027
In Lithuania, where a ban is also delayed until 2027, mink are still being gassed in metal boxes — a standard but horrific killing method:
🔗 Respect for Animals: Inside the Killing Box – Lithuania
This delay is unacceptable. We call for an immediate ban on fur farming across the entire European Union.
Multiple investigations have documented the cruelty on European fur farms:
📍 In Spain, hidden footage revealed sick and injured mink in filthy cages:
🔗 Vegan FTA: Cruelty in Spanish mink farms
📍 In Poland, one of the world’s largest fur producers, mink were filmed being violently abused by workers:
🔗 Fur Free Alliance: Polish mink cruelty
📍 A global undercover investigation showed animals suffering open wounds, cannibalism, and psychological trauma on fur farms:
🔗 Humane World / HSI: Fur farm cruelty exposed
Fur farming:
🔴 Violates basic animal welfare
🔴 Spreads zoonotic disease risk
🔴 Is rejected by a majority of European citizens
We urge the European Commission, the European Parliament, and national governments of Finland, Poland, Romania, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, and Lithuania to act urgently. Don't wait until 2027 or 2030. Ban fur farming now.
📣 Anyone can sign this petition — no matter where you live. Even if you're outside Europe, your voice matters. Global pressure shows that the world is watching and demanding change.
