The Issue

Look, I get it—fireworks can be fun. But here's the deal: fun isn't worth the risk of causing more fires in Utah. We all know how dry it gets this time of year, and it's a reality we can't ignore. Our beautiful state is struggling as it is, and we don't need another wildfire season to make things worse. It’s not even the 4th of July yet and we’ve already had hundreds of thousands of acres burned by fires this year so far.

Every year, we hope for better air quality while still lighting hundreds of fireworks. But hope is never enough, especially when conditions have gotten worse as years go on. It's time to rethink our traditions. Fireworks might seem like harmless entertainment, but they honestly do more harm than good. Not only is it detrimental to our environment, fireworks also cause anxiety to pets and babies and can also potentially trigger veterans.

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate, but we can find safer ways to enjoy this holiday. Imagine gatherings without the smoke and the risk, focusing instead on picnics, music, and community events. Together, we can ensure a safer summer for everyone in Utah. This isn’t about taking away joy—it's about protecting our beloved communities and landscapes.

By putting a ban on fireworks for the Fourth of July, we can significantly reduce the risk of fires during the peak season. Let’s make a responsible choice that reflects our commitment to safety and environmental preservation. I urge you to sign this petition to show your support for banning fireworks in Utah so that we can celebrate safely and responsibly. Please sign and share to make a meaningful impact.
