The Issue

As a lifelong music lover, I am deeply troubled by the use of dynamic ticket pricing in our entertainment industry. Like so many people across the UK, the United States Of America and the Rest Of The World I find solace and joy in experiencing live performances. Whether it's music, comedy or any other performing art form, these experiences provide an essential escape from life's hardships.

However, this vital source of joy is being threatened by dynamic ticket pricing practices. Companies like Ticketmaster are at the forefront of this issue. They exploit our love for live performances and turn it into a profit-making scheme that disregards the current cost-of-living crisis we are facing.

Dynamic ticket pricing allows companies to change ticket prices based on demand and other factors. This method often leads to inflated prices that many fans cannot afford - effectively locking them out from seeing their favourite artists perform live.

In 2019 alone, secondary ticketing sites made over £1 billion from inflated tickets (Source: FanFair Alliance). This figure not only highlights the scale of this problem but also shows how these practices are taking money directly out of fans' pockets during an already challenging economic period.

Ticketmaster and Livenation hold what I believe is an unfair monopoly of the industry which has led to extortionate ticket prices.

Myself and my best friend Ian Webster (we're both lifelong rock music fans since our school days and share the same moral values) decided that something needs to be done so we are asking you all to help us make a stand.

We believe that using such tactics amidst a cost-of-living crisis is fundamentally and morally wrong. Therefore, we call upon our UK  government, the United States government and all other governments around the world to enforce a total ban on dynamic ticket pricing within the entertainment industry.

By signing this petition you stand with us against exploitative pricing tactics and for fair access to live performances for all fans around the globe. Please sign now to support our cause!
