Please call, email or write your Mpp/Mp and demand change. It will only take a few minutes and will have a big impact. Thank you. If your MPP/MP gets enough calls, maybe they’ll ask Kathryn McGarry what she is doing about it. Just one phone call, they might ignore, but 10 or 20 or 100 calls and they’ll be paying attention. So ask your friends and family to call too. Politicians have to take notice when voters care about an issue. Three Easy Steps: 1. Find your local MPP or MLA (links below) 2. Call, email or write them (sample text below) 3. Let us know about it. (This one’s optional but we’d love to hear from you – especially about the response you get. Ontario residents, please contact any or all of the following: • Your local MPP http://www.ontla.on.ca/web/members/members_current.do?locale=en • Provincial Minister of Natural Resources & Forestry , Hon. Sample letter (date) To the Honorable (insert name) I am writing to demand that the outdated, inhumane practice of trapping and snaring be banned. It is an indiscriminate, practice of cruelty to animals. Trapping is poorly regulated, dependent on weather and predictable animal behaviour, which is impossible. Trapping success also depends on the correct species wandering in to it. Research has shown that there is a very high number of unintentional animals caught - including family pets. Trap lines don't have to be posted and are rampant in publicly accessible crown land. Wild animals have a right to their own lives with their value being much more then a piece of decorative fur trim. We have laws against cruelty to animals yet a wild creature does not get the value of this protection as they are considered a resource. I would suggest that they are sentient beings and the majority of Canadians and those that would visit this country would say they are more of a resource living then dead. I trust you will take the time to review the facts and end this archaic assault on our wildlife. Thank you, (your name)
