Labour Party will continue fighting for a ban on cruel bloodsports
Labour Party leader, Ivana Bacik, has pledged that “Labour will continue the fight for a ban on hare coursing and fox hunting”.
Deputy Bacik described the results of the vote on the Animal Health & Welfare (Ban on Hare Coursing) Bill on 8 July as “highly disappointing”.
Nine of the party’s 11 TDs were thanked for voting in favour of the bill which failed to progress after 125 TDs (mostly Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, Sinn Fein, Independent Ireland and Aontu) shamefully voted against it.
In December, seven Labour Party TDs were among the 24 who voted in favour of the Animal Health & Welfare (Ban On Fox Hunting) Bill 2025.
