The Irish Council Against Blood Sports yesterday exhibited at the Heritage 2030 event, organised by the Department of Arts & Heritage.
Groups and individuals who made submissions on heritage issues, including Ireland's flora and fauna, were invited to take part in the event, held at Dublin Castle.
We were anxious to highlight the plight of our wildlife persecuted by hunters and hare coursers, and expressed the hope that by the year 2030 - if not a lot sooner - Ireland will have banned foxhunting, hare coursing and other bloodsports activities such as shooting birds and animals for “sport” and that our precious wildlife will be permitted to exist in peace, free from the cruelty of humans.
Minister Josepha Madigan attended the event, which was addressed by a number of speakers on all aspects of heritage in Ireland.
