Dear Supporters
The petition calling for a permanent ban on barbecues at Waterlow Park will be presented by me and Lucy on the 14th July.
Please note that the meeting will be webcast live at www.camden.gov.uk/webcast
Below is the information from Camden Council about the meeting; please do not plan to attend the meeting as they will only allow 4 people in addition to Lucy and myself.
"Your petition will be considered by the Culture and Environment Scrutiny Committee at its meeting on 14th July 2025 at 6.30pm in Committee room 2, Camden Town Hall, Judd Street. The meeting will be conducted as a hybrid meeting (whereby people can attend in-person or remotely). The agenda for this meeting will be published and available on the Council’s website on Friday 4th July. I will provide you with further information about meeting joining instructions nearer to the time of the meeting.
There is limited space in the meeting room, so please note that it may not be possible to accommodate everyone who wishes to come, but please note that the meeting will be webcast live at www.camden.gov.uk/webcast
The process at the meeting will be as follows:-
The petition organiser will have up to 5 minutes to introduce the petition
The relevant Chief Officer will respond to the petition and may invite other officers and/or Cabinet Members to participate in this response
The Scrutiny Committee can then pose questions to all parties and debate the matter
At the conclusion of the discussion, the Committee will make a decision on what should be done in response, the options being:-
No further action is necessary;
A further report should come back to the Committee;
The matter should be referred to the relevant decision-making body or officer of the Council with a recommendation on what to do.
You as the petition organiser will be formally notified of the outcome of the Committee’s consideration of the petition, normally within 5 working days."
We are encouraging people to continue to sign this petition calling for a permanent ban - please pass the message on.
Thank you
