My 7-year-old son was recently involved in a tragic hit-and-run accident in Denton. He was severely injured by a moped, and despite clear CCTV footage of the incident, justice remains elusive because the riders were wearing balaclavas. This single piece of clothing has turned our community into a breeding ground for lawlessness and fear.

Balaclavas have provided anonymity to countless individuals committing crimes in our neighbourhood, making it nearly impossible for law enforcement to identify and prosecute perpetrators. They embolden criminals, from petty thieves to dangerous drivers, allowing them to evade accountability. Our local streets, once vibrant and safe for our children to play, have become looming shadows of threat and insecurity.

The issue of illegal use of mopeds and balaclavas is not new. Numerous reports have been filed, yet the problem continues to worsen, primarily because these offenders remain unidentified.
