The Issue

Ban unregulated backyard breeders in Arkansas!

Backyard breeding is a rampant issue, often leading to puppies with severe health problems, which affects them throughout their lives. A study published in 'The Journal of Small Animal Practice' reported that pups from small-scale, non-professional breeders face a much higher rate of health problems than those from regulated breeding facilities.

Apart from health issues, backyard breeding contributes to the overpopulation of pets, with thousands of dogs ending up in shelters each year or worse - euthanized. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) estimates that 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized each year, with a significant proportion of these animals coming directly from backyard breedings.

It's an issue of animal welfare and unequivocally an ethical predicament. Instating laws to prohibit unregulated backyard breeding can safeguard the health of future pets, decrease the number of unwanted animals, and ensure responsible pet ownership and breeding practices.

Together, let's share our voices and petition our legislators to take firm action against unregulated backyard breeding of dogs. Your signature can become the catalyst for change.

Please sign this petition to demand to Ban backyard dog breeders in the state of Arkansas.

Lovingly called Byrdie's law.
