BAN AUTONOMOUS AI WEAPONS

BAN AUTONOMOUS AI WEAPONS

The Issue

In 2026, the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence in warfare has become a major global concern because countries and military companies are creating autonomous weapons that can identify and attack targets with little or no human control. These AI powered drones and weapon systems are making wars faster, less accountable, and far more dangerous for civilians, since machines can make mistakes, misidentify people, or be hacked and manipulated. Experts fear this could trigger accidental conflicts, increase civilian deaths, and start an international “AI arms race” where nations compete to build deadlier technology instead of focusing on diplomacy and peace. As these systems become cheaper and easier to access, there is also growing concern that terrorist groups or extremist organizations could eventually obtain similar technology, making global security even more unstable.
