The United States holds the highest rate of gun deaths among developed countries, a statistic that is both alarming and unacceptable. There were over 600 mass shootings in 2022 alone, with many involving assault weapons. Mass shootings involving an automatic gun have more injuries and deaths than shootings with handguns or hunting rifles. These weapons are designed to kill people, and they have no place in civilian hands.
