As a worried parent, I speak from the heart when I express my concern about the negative influence readily accessible through social media platforms. My child, like millions of other innocent young minds, has been exposed to distasteful personalities and problematic content. These influences pose a grave risk to their development and wellbeing. Bad influences and unfit parents not only share harmful content but also engage in toxic behaviors that can be traumatizing to our children. Contamination of such an extent on platforms that are meant to serve as spaces for interaction and learning feels completely unjust.

According to the Pew Research Center, 95% of teens have access to a smartphone, and 45% say they are online 'almost constantly'. The same survey shows that 81% of parents are worried about how much time their children spend online, and 66% are concerned about their children interacting with bad influences or strangers. This proves that my concerns are not isolated but shared by parents globally.

We need to prioritize our children's safety and wellbeing. I believe it is high time for social media platforms to take responsibility and execute measures that effectively ban unfit parents and harmful influences. This measure should include the ability to flag these accounts, for thorough checks and immediate action on confirmed threats.

We live in an era where our children's playground is digital. It should be free from all forms of intimidation, abuse, and toxicity.
