I am deeply concerned about the presence of animals in places where food is handled, served and sold. As a frequent diner, it's disconcerting to see animals in these establishments due to the potential health risks they pose. Animals can carry diseases and shed hair which may contaminate food and dining areas. Moreover, aggressive behavior from animals can create disturbances while people are trying to enjoy their meals.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), pets can carry germs that make people sick (CDC 2017). In addition to this health risk, a study published by the Journal of Environmental Health found that animal hair was one of the common physical contaminants in food (Journal of Environmental Health 2016).

The presence of animals in establishments where food is handled not only poses a threat to public health but also disrupts the peaceable enjoyment of meals by customers. Therefore, we call on local authorities and regulators to enact strict regulations banning animals from such establishments.
