Ban animal captivity at SeaWorld and abusive zoos
The Issue
Animals should not be confined and exploited for human entertainment. This petition calls for an end to the use of wild animals in entertainment at facilities such as SeaWorld and for stronger protections against abusive or inadequate zoo conditions.
Animals deserve environments that meet their physical, social, and behavioral needs. For species such as orcas, the difference between their natural environment and an artificial tank is enormous. Captivity can prevent animals from expressing many of their natural behaviors and can raise serious welfare concerns.
Instead of keeping animals primarily for entertainment, facilities should prioritize rescue, rehabilitation, conservation, education, and animal welfare. Where appropriate, existing facilities could transition toward accredited sanctuaries or rehabilitation centers rather than breeding animals for display.
We are asking decision-makers, wildlife organizations, and entertainment facilities to take meaningful steps toward ending harmful forms of animal captivity and improving protections for animals currently in human care.
Animals cannot choose captivity for themselves. We can choose to protect them.
Sign this petition to support stronger animal-welfare protections and a future where wild animals are respected for who they are—not treated as attractions.
