The Issue

As a parent, I was sickened by what I read in a recent CBS News investigation.

Meta—through Instagram and Facebook—has been running ads for AI tools that let users “digitally undress” women and girls. These apps don’t just generate fake images. They use real photos, often pulled from social media, to create sexualized deepfakes without consent.

The ads are aimed at men. But the apps themselves target women and girls, by offering users the power to exploit their likeness—often using images of young or underage girls in the promotions.

Some of these apps don’t verify age. They don’t ask for permission. They don’t care if the person being faked is a child.

This isn’t edgy tech—it’s digital sexual abuse. And Meta is making money off it.

We don’t let people post child sexual abuse material. Why should apps that generate it with AI be allowed to advertise?

That’s why I’m calling on Meta to immediately and permanently ban all ads for “nudify” or deepfake apps that generate nonconsensual sexual content—and to audit and remove any existing content or ad buyers tied to this abuse.

These aren’t just disturbing tools. They’re actively endangering real people—many of them teenagers—on the very platforms they use to stay connected.

If you believe Meta has a responsibility to protect users, not empower abusers, please add your name.
