Ban AI-Generated Shoppable Videos on TikTok Shop

Ban AI-Generated Shoppable Videos on TikTok Shop
The Issue
The Issue
TikTok Shop works because people trust what they’re seeing from real people.
That trust is now being damaged by the rise of AI-generated shoppable videos that appear to show products yet no real person has ever touched, tested, or used them.
These videos look genuine and have already tricked many users into buying products that are nothing like what is advertised.
Why this is bad for TikTok users?
AI shoppable videos often:
* Show products using visuals that are exaggerated or entirely fabricated.
* Use synthetic voices that imitate real creators
* Create the impression of personal experience where none exists
This means shoppers are buying based on content that they think is real but in reality it’s not what is advertised.
The result:
* Products arriving that do not match what was shown.
* More refunds, disputes, and complaints.
* Growing mistrust in TikTok Shop as a place to buy safely.
When people feel misled, they stop buying.
This is not anti-technology, AI has many useful and creative applications.
But selling physical products using AI-generated demonstrations crosses a line.
If the product is not being physically shown in an advertisement it should not be allowed on the platform.
Why this matters for TikTok
TikTok Shop depends on authenticity
And real people you know and trust showing you what you are buying.
Once that’s gone, the system stops working.
What we are asking TikTok to do
We call on TikTok to:
Ban AI-generated shoppable videos on TikTok Shop, or at the very least
Require clear and unavoidable labelling that a video is AI-generated and not based on real product use.
In simple terms
If people cannot tell what is real, they will stop buying.
If they stop buying, TikTok Shop fails.
This petition is about protecting shoppers, creators, transparency, and trust.
