Special Educational Needs and Disabled people are some of the most vulnerable people in society and yet discrimination against them isn’t just allowed to happen. But sadly seems to be increasing as more awareness is being raised. Many of us raise awareness for better understanding and acceptance. Not to be ridiculed, mocked and discriminated against. 

over the years we’ve witnessed public figures like Harvey Price being bullied in the media and the powers that be not taking it seriously. I believe that this just gives more power to those who feel it is appropriate to spread hate speech against us because of our difference. But isn’t this in the same category as racism, sexism and homophobia? 

I feel it is my duty to make a stand and would like to call on others to support me in this. I’m fortunate to be able to write this and come forward. But I want to acknowledge all of those who aren’t able to speak up for various reasons wether they be educational, social, mental health related or just not being their nature. And that’s ok. But if you are able to stand beside me for yourself or for someone you care for who cannot do so for themselves. Then please sign this petition and let’s show that we still hold power despite the challenges me may face. 

Immediate action is needed. What I have seen in the media recently is damaging for so many reasons. It’s triggering for me personally and so I know I’m not alone in this. Mocking us is not ok. Referring to our cause as a trend is NOT ok!!! Especially for people who have just found comfort, support, confidence and validation in our movement. After all the progress we have made over the years. This has taken us several steps back and we need to end the negative and very dangerous influence now!
