The renewal of permission by the Victorian Government to drop schedule 7 poison 1080 from helicopters over Regional Victoria is set to take place. The current permission expires on 31 December 2019.

We urge all Victorians to make a time to meet your MP's Upper and Lower House representatives and tell them how you feel about such an insidious act of cruel destruction aimed at Dingoes, affecting native wildlife. Please carefully examine the maps attached to the published Article.

Attached is a 2018 notification from Sporting Shooters, which  shows the breadth of baiting and aerial maps displaying the where the helicopter drops have taken place in the past. The article also spells out clearly the warnings and asssociated dangers.

We must all oppose  renewal of this massive intrusion and assault upon regional Victoria with poison 1080, a poison so dangerous and causing such cruel death it has been banned in most countries in the world. The use of 1080 poison is to bring into extinction our top order terrestrial predator the Dingo. Wild dog, means Dingo. In Victoria, the Dingo is a threatened species under the Flora and Fauna Guaranteed Act, and yet, the Australian Government recklessly recommends the use of a schedule 7 poison to kill a threatened species. This is reckless and environmentally destructive. Any claims such wanton baiting is necessary to protect the agriculture department are false,

The Victorian Governments rationale for 1080 poisoning is that it is to "protect farm stock". This is unjustified as over the period of 2013 to 2014 and from 2017 to 2018 the numbers of stock reported killed or maimed per one million sheep in Victoria were 117 in 2013-2014 and 76 in 2014 to 2015 and 84 in 2015 to 2016, 68 in 2016 to 2017 and 86 in 2017 to 2018. These figures are factual and display the false push by agriculture who fail to protect stock from poor animal husbandry with literally hundreds of thousands of sheep dying from lack of shelter.

Scientists have warned the Victorian Government that the ongoing and unnecessary destruction of Victorian native apex predator incurs environmental harm. Leading Australian environmental scientists have repeatedly communicated to the Victorian Government that both pure dingoes and ecologically functional dingo hybrids perform a very significant ecological role within Victorian ecosystems.

Please, speak to your MP about why this insidious practice must stop and why they must oppose the renewal of aerial baiting in Victoria. Time is running out!
