It’s Time for Commonsense Gun Safety Laws in Oregon!

The Issue

Our gun laws are not doing enough to protect Oregonians from gun violence.

Right now, background checks are required for only some gun sales in Oregon, not all, allowing too many dangerous people access to guns.

Right now in Oregon, even in homes where children are present, there’s no requirement that guns be safely locked up. Too many children have accidentally shot and killed themselves, family members, or friends – deaths that could have been avoided if the guns were kept in safe and secure locations inside the home.

Right now, Oregon law doesn’t stop people convicted of domestic violence from owning a gun. And domestic abuse victims are 12 times more likely to die if an incident involves a firearm.

It’s time we take action and make small, commonsense changes to our gun laws to keep Oregon safe.

Do you believe it’s reasonable to require background checks on all gun purchases, no matter where they take place? Do you believe guns should be safely stored out of the reach of children? Do you believe it makes sense to keep guns away from people convicted of domestic violence?

Your voice is powerful. Use it to stand up for what you think is right.

Add your name to tell your legislator you support commonsense gun safety laws.
