Dear friends and fellow petitioners,

Please bear with me during this last stretch. The deadline is quickly approaching for the Minister of Education to sign-off on the Alberta K-4 Math Draft Curriculum.

From a brief glance at the limited Community Information Session in June 2018, I was not very impressed with the K-4 Math Draft. Those attending these sessions were directed to not disclose to social media or anyone the content of what they had viewed that evening. However, due in part to the columnist David Staples, the document was released to the public in July 2018. I was then able to review the Draft in full and, actually, felt more encouraged by it as documented by the reporter Janet French:

We had indeed made a difference in the direction of our children's education. However, I was not satisfied. There remained much work to be done to bring this K-4 Math Draft up to standard for our children.

Over the past couple of years, I and our team of mathematicians had jumped through every hoop they've thrown our way -- the online Curriculum Surveys, the Face-to-Face sessions, the Spring Curriculum Surveys, The Focus Groups, etc, etc...but all were mere illusions of consultation. And as you recall, I ran into Minister Eggen at a function in February of this year and, of course, I requested a meeting. He promised a meeting, but my emails to the minister's office to confirm a meeting were left unanswered, while his assistant Azra made little effort to arrange an appointment.

Well, the fate of my children, our children's education and future can no longer be on their terms.  Minister Eggen has to meet with me ASAP as I have in my hand a list of Key Recommendations for the K-4 Math Draft as compiled by mathematicians, engineers and other professionals highly respected in their fields.

If you may PLEASE HELP me get an URGENT MEETING with Minister David Eggen by emailing him at Education.Minister@gov.ab.ca, Eggenedmonton.calder@assembly.ab.ca

Premier Notley: premier@gov.ab.ca

and your MLAs as listed List of MLA and contacts

with the attached file: KEY RECOMMENDATIONS for K-4 MATH DRAFT CURRICULUM

Time is running out. Please insist that Minister Eggen meets with me within the next couple of weeks to review these URGENT Recommendations that must be integrated into the K-4 Math Draft Curriculum before it can be signed-off and implemented.

I am so grateful for all your help, time, and dedication.

Hugs to all!
