As with the installment of the last government, I am hopeful that positive changes will come with the installment of a new government. Perhaps, more so now because I know that you, Premier-elect Jason Kenney, had listened and heard me and thousands of parents when you stated on your education platform that "Alberta children have experienced a “devastating reduction in math proficiency,” and that you had "pledged a back-to-basics approach that would prioritize “tried and true” methods, such as phonics instruction for reading and standard algorithms for teaching math." (We have made some progress in our advocacy, but there's a bit more to be refined).

From the respect and kindness you had shown me -- a woman, mother, immigrant, minority, and physician -- at our meeting, I have great faith that you will lead our province with the kindness we discussed and prove that no one shall be hurt, denigrated, or discriminated against based on their race, colour, creed or sexual orientation.

My greatest faith is that YOU will indeed be the one to finally bring social justice to our education system by empowering our children with the highest standard of excellence in education, to equip our children with the broad-based knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in life.
