"Cancelling maternity leave following the death of a child implies the child was never born/the woman is not “maternal”/not a mother". Sadly, these are exactly the questions Priya's mum wrestled with when her maternity leave was cancelled.
Some mothers have reached out and told us they were grateful for getting full maternity/parental leave in the aftermath of their tragedies, but other mothers have told us of going through a similar experience of maternity leave being cancelled. Being treated fairly shouldn't be a game of roulette, subject to the whim's of corporate decision making. This is why we want the current workplace laws to change.
