The Issue

Ayala high school, Chino Hills. On Thursday, September 25, more than 20 members of the Ayala Football team were punished with suspension and possibly expulsion for events that took place during their trip to St. George, Utah. The problem is, most of these players were not part of the events that caused the disciplinary action. Unfortunately, quick decisions were made to ensure those responsible were held accountable for their actions. However, it appears as though the school's administration jumped to conclusions before getting the whole story. After returning home from that trip, a few players were called into the principals office and questioned in regards to issues that took place during their trip. As a result, they were suspended, then some were expelled from Ayala high school. Today, many of their teammates were called into the office and didn't report to practice. They too, were suspended. Assumptions were made and they paid the price for a few who truly were involved in behavior unacceptable in our school. For a punishment the boys were suspended for one day and taken off the football team and have a resignation opportunity in two weeks. As a result of this the boys who are suspended will miss their homecoming game against Damien High School, first season game, and the game after against Claremont High School. A punishment of this level should not be taken lightly and implemented unless a thorough investigation is complete and evidence showing no doubt about who and wasn't involved in the unfortunate situation in Utah.

Thank you so much for your time, we appreciate every signature we could get.
