Petition for Awesome inc to stop discriminating and let the old crew of Ren and Stimpy artists come back and express their ideas for the new reboot.

Good afternoon. Tell me something: how many of you remember the announcement of the Ren and Stimpy reboot? Many didn't like the idea at first, but as more news became known about the reboot, including that some members of the original show would return and that the animation house responsible would be Snipple Animation (who previously animated shorts for Looney Tunes cartoons), the interest towards the new reboot increased.

So far so good, I even gave the benefit to Awesome inc, so they could show that they can do something good with the Ren and Stimpy reboot. But as time goes by and I discover several blunders, and people raise their voices, little by little I lost faith in the reboot.

Shortly after, a chapter of the new reboot of Ren and Stimpy was leaked, which to be honest, was not bad at all: the character designs were respected and the ideas were good, but they did not reach the same level as the original. I don't expect this reboot to surpass the original but I do expect it to feel like Ren and Stimpy. They have good ideas, but they waste a lot of the setting to do absolutely nothing with it: there are no funny or memorable gags, the plots of the chapters are generic and the saddest thing of all are the static and insipid expressions (something that Ren and Stimpy is very characteristic of).

That absence of experimentation in the drawings, the gags, the expressions and jokes return this reboot to something that looks like Ren and Stimpy but is actually not.

And while we are on this, another piece of news that was the reason why I want to make this petition is this statement that the artist William Wray wrote on his Facebook:

 

 

 

 

William Wray was one of the artists on the original series, creating detailed sets and drawings that would lead to the famous “close-ups” that Ren and Stimpy are known for. In his words, both Bob Camp and Jim Gomez (artists and writers of the old show) had intentions of returning for this reboot. But for the writers at Awesome inc. It was not enough for them to return because, in his own words, neither he nor his colleagues knew what “modern and updated humor” was. But most despicable of all, they rejected Wray and the former editorial staff simply for being "old white people." They were literally discriminated against and the atmosphere on set became very stressful for him and his crew.

This was the last straw for me. They messed with what I love most about my career as an artist and one of my biggest influences. I understand that the series has been through a lot of tough times, whether it's having creative differences between its creator and Nickelodeon, or the horrible Adult Party Cartoon revival that was made for Spike TV in 2003.And 20 years later they have a reboot again, only for some people with an SJW feminist mentality to fuck off those responsible who made the show shine in the first place, just for "not knowing the current humor."With that in mind, one can feel nothing but hatred for that group of writers. They ruined it, destroyed it, and destroyed what little legacy this series had lost, and only by being resentful women.

 

And it was based on all that, that I wanted to do something about it. Because the way things are, if I stay doing nothing and get angry, I won't make any of this stop. Someone has to do something, and that's why I thought I'd make this petition.

It really doesn't make sense that they didn't give a chance to the people who worked on the original series. Looking at the few leaked chapters, it seems to me that they are the ones who should learn from them, who have the most experience in the show.

That's why this reboot isn't funny and is pretty bland and dry. They may have the same designs, they may have good ideas, but they will never come close to the essence that made the original series so funny. There are no memorable gags.William Wray, Bob Camp and Jim Gómez wanted to give that spark back to the show, and the company has to despise it, as if it were nothing.This is just a demonstration that the company AWESOME INCORPORATED does not care in the least about the final product, and that is why the leaked reboot is a complete disaster.

Another thing that bothers me is their motto of "We are inclusive and inquisitive, diverse and deft. We’re woman-owned and led, based in Atlanta and we are exceptionally proud of our team." Of course, "We are inclusive and that is why we can "Discriminating against the white man." Talent and creativity is what matters the least to them. They just want to have representation in their company to get attention. If that isn't being hypocritical and having a double standard, then I don't know what is.

This is another of many examples of why many animation companies are currently doing poorly and why creativity has gone into decline. The fact that white men are discriminated against is something that has been normalized, and this really is meaningless shit because both men and women, people of color and minorities have the right to show their ideas and visions in order to express their love for art.

A similar example that comes to mind is the case of Mindy Kaling, an Indian woman, who although her nationality and race is the least important to me, she herself admitted to sexually harassing a man, she proudly says it in public, and then of stealing his kiss without his consent, she threatened to fire him. And many of you found this funny?

If Mindy were a man and the person she sexually harassed was a woman, chances are her acting career would be over forever and she would no longer be involved in any future projects. But not. Since she is an Indian woman we forgive her and laugh about it. In Hollywood there has always been a double standard.

That's why I think what they did to William Wray and the others is an injustice, and a way to silence him. But thanks to him raising his voice about his experience working there, we discovered how double moralistic companies are, and that they care less about creativity and originality. Now talent is the least important thing and that is why companies like Disney are currently in decline.

Awesome Incorporation is an example of this: not having open minds to give each person the opportunity, which is why no one wants to work for a company anymore.

Nobody has to say who can enter and who cannot, just because of their race or sex, and neither does the white man have the right to be discriminated against in that way because what is always important is talent and originality. And if we don't let that talent grow, we will never be able to see works made genuinely from the heart and without any filter.
We are in a dark time for animation, where companies only want diversity but at the same time discriminate against white men, and have strict restrictions for races and sexes.

I am also bothered by the fact that if someone defends the original Ren and Stimpy series it is because that person defends John Kricfalusi and his actions, to which I tell them once and for all that I do not defend this man's actions at all. : What he did is something indefensible, but it is one thing to judge someone for their actions and another to talk about what they did in their career; which is why so many admired him in the first place. What the people at Awesome Inc did was just as malicious, creating a bad environment for several workers.

Although John K was strict and short-tempered, he never discriminated against his workers, and at least he cared about animation more than any of the new writers involved. It was thanks to him that there are many talented animators and creators.

They have to give the message of victimization of oppressed minorities and impose hatred towards the white man. It's not like the old days of the 90's or 2000's where at least they tried to give positive messages of equality and tolerance that were aimed at all audiences.

I'm not saying there aren't good animations out there these days. Series like Smiling Friends and Primal by Genndy Tartakovsky have proven to be very good animations in their respective comedy and action sections; and on the film/short film side we have a much broader catalog where a lot of creative freedom is allowed, giving beautiful results like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Robot Dreams, Spiderman across the spiderverse, etc.

Ren and Stimpy was a series that took risks with its rebellion, animation and humor. Many people worked hard to make it the series it is today. In both the Spumco era and the Games Animation era, these artists and writers achieved something unique that would influence an entire generation of artists and writers.

Talent exists everywhere in the world and that is why I want everyone to have open minds and let more people express themselves. Do it not for William Wray or for Ren and Stimpy but for the love of art and for the future of animation, which should be seen as a means to express that art. That is something I want to fight for and that is why I am making this petition for this group of fraudulent writers to be blacklisted, or to change and let the old team come back and stop discriminating against them. So they get their act together to make a reboot worthy of giving this series a well-deserved return. they have a choice Awesome Inc.

Buenas tardes. Díganme una cosa: ¿cuántos de ustedes recuerdan el anuncio del reboot de Ren y Stimpy? A muchos no les gusto la idea al principio, pero conforme más se supieron noticias sobre el reboot, incluyendo sobre que algunos miembros del show original regresarían y que la casa animadora responsable seria Snipple Animation (quien anteriormente animo cortos para Looney Tunes cartoons), el interés hacia el nuevo reboot aumento. 

Todo bien hasta ahí, incluso le di el beneficio a Awesome inc, para que demostraran que pueden hacer algo bueno con el reinicio de Ren y Stimpy.  Pero mientras más pasa el tiempo y voy averiguando varias metidas de pata, y personas van alzando la voz, poco a poco fui perdiéndole fe al reboot.

Poco tiempo después se filtra un capítulo del nuevo reboot de Ren y Stimpy, el cual siendo honesta, no estaba nada mal: se respetaron los diseños de personajes y las ideas eran buenas, pero tampoco llegaban al mismo nivel que el original.  Yo no espero que este reinicio supere el original pero sí que se sienta como Ren y Stimpy. Tienen ideas buenas, pero desaprovechan mucho el escenario para no hacer absolutamente nada con el: no hay gags graciosos o memorables, las tramas de los capítulos son genéricas y lo más triste de todo son lo estáticas e insípidas de las expresiones (algo de lo que Ren y Stimpy se caracterizaba mucho). 

Esa ausencia de experimentación en los dibujos, los gags, las expresiones y chistes vuelven a este reboot en algo que luce como Ren y Stimpy pero que en realidad no lo es. 

Y ya que estamos con esto, otra noticia que fue el motivo por el cual quiero hacer esta petición es este comunicado que escribió el artista William Wray en su Facebook:

 

 

 

William Wray fue uno de los artistas de la serie original, realizando escenarios y dibujos detallados que darían origen a los famosos “close-ups” de los que se caracteriza Ren y Stimpy. En sus palabras, tanto el cómo Bob Camp y Jim Gómez (artistas y escritores del viejo show) tenían intenciones de volver para este reinicio. Pero a las escritoras de Awesome inc. no les basto que regresaran porque, según sus propias palabras, ni el ni sus colegas sabían lo que era el “humor moderno y actualizado”. Pero lo más despreciable de todo fue que ellas rechazaron a Wray y al viejo staff de escritores por el simple hecho de ser “viejos hombres blancos”. Literalmente los discriminaron, y el ambiente en el set se puso muy estresante para él y su equipo. 

Esto fue la gota que derramo el vaso para mí. Se metieron con lo que más amo de mi carrera de artista y una de mis mayores influencias. Entiendo que la serie ha pasado por muchos momentos difíciles, ya sea tener diferencias creativas entre su creador y Nickelodeon, o el horrible revival Adult Party Cartoon que se hizo para Spike tv en el 2003. Y 20 años después vuelven a tener un reinicio, solo para que unas personas con mentalidad de feministas sjw, sacaran a la mierda a los responsables que hicieron que el show brillara en primer lugar, solo por “no saber del humor actual”. Con eso en mente, uno no puede sentir más que odio por ese grupo de escritores. Lo arruinaron, lo destrozaron, y destruyeron el poco legado que esta serie había perdido, y solo por ser mujeres resentidas.

Y fue en base a todo eso, que quise hacer algo al respecto. Porque por cómo están las cosas, si yo me quedo sin hacer nada y enojarme, no lograre que nada de esto pare. Alguien tiene que hacer algo, y por eso pensé en hacer esta petición.
Realmente no tiene sentido que ellas no le dieran oportunidad a la gente que trabajo en la serie original. Mirando los pocos capítulos filtrados, me parece que ellas son quienes deberian aprender de ellos, quienes tienen más experiencia en el show.
Por eso este reboot no es gracioso y es bastante insípido y seco. Podrán tener los mismos diseños, podrán tener buenas ideas, pero nunca se acercarán a la esencia que hacía a la serie original tan graciosa. No hay ningún gag memorable. William Wray, Bob Camp y Jim Gómez quisieron volver a darle esa chispa al show, y la empresa lo tiene que despreciar, así como si fuera nada. Esto es solo una demostración de que la empresa AWESOME INCORPORATED, no le importa en lo más mínimo el producto final, y es por eso que el reboot filtrado es un completo desastre.

Otra cosa que me molesta es su lema de "Somos inclusivos e inquisitivos, diversos y hábiles. Estamos dirigidos por mujeres, con sede en Atlanta y estamos excepcionalmente orgullosos de nuestro equipo”. Claro, “Somos inclusivos y es por eso por lo que podemos discriminar al hombre blanco”. El talento y la creatividad es lo que menos les importa. Solo quieren tener representación en su empresa para llamar la atención. Si eso no es ser hipócrita y tener doble standard, entonces no sé lo que es.
Esto es otro de tantos ejemplos de porque muchas empresas de animación actualmente están mal y porque la creatividad entró en decadencia. El hecho de que los hombres blancos sean discriminados es algo que se ha estado normalizando, y esto de verdad es una mierda sin sentido porque tanto hombres como mujeres, gente de color y minorías tienen derecho a mostrar sus ideas y visiones para así poder expresar su amor por él arte. 

Un ejemplo similar que se me ocurre es el caso de Mindy Kaling, una mujer india, que si bien su nacionalidad y raza es lo que menos me importa, ella misma admitió acosar sexualmente a un hombre, ella orgullosamente lo dice en público, y después de robarle el beso sin su consentimiento lo amenazo con despedirlo. ¿Y esto a muchos les pareció gracioso? 

Si Mindy fuera un hombre y la persona a la que acoso sexualmente fuera una mujer, lo más probable es que su carrera como actriz se habría terminado para siempre y ya no estaría involucrada en ningún proyecto futuro. Pero no. Como ella es una mujer india se lo perdonamos y nos reímos de ello. En Hollywood siempre existió el doble estándar.

Por eso pienso que lo que le hicieron a William Wray y a los demás es una injusticia, y una forma de callarlo. Pero gracias a que el alzo la voz sobre su experiencia trabajando ahí, descubrimos lo doble moralistas que son las empresas, y que les importa menos la creatividad y originalidad. Ahora el talento es lo de menos y por eso empresas como Disney están en decadencia actualmente.

Awesome Incorporation es un ejemplo de ello: por no tener mentes abiertas para darles la oportunidad a cada persona es, por lo cual, nadie quiere ya trabajar para una empresa.
Nadie tiene porque decir quién puede entrar y quien no, solo por su raza o sexo, y tampoco el hombre blanco tiene derecho a ser discriminado de ese modo porque lo importante siempre es el talento y la originalidad. Y si no dejamos que ese talento crezca, nunca lograremos ver obras hechas genuinamente con el corazón y sin ningún filtro. 

Estamos en una época oscura para la animación, donde las empresas solo quieren diversidad pero al mismo tiempo discriminan al hombre blanco, y tienen restricciones estrictas para las razas, y sexos. 

También me molesta el hecho de que si alguien defiende a la serie original de Ren y Stimpy es porque esa persona defiende a John Kricfalusi y sus acciones, a lo que yo les digo de una vez que yo no defiendo las acciones de este hombre para nada: lo que hizo es algo indefendible, pero una cosa es juzgar a alguien por sus acciones y otra es hablar de lo que hizo en su carrera; razón por la cual mucho lo admiraron en primer lugar. Lo que hicieron las personas de Awesome Inc fue igual de malicioso, teniendo un mal ambiente para varios trabajadores.
Si bien John K era alguien estricto y mal humorado, nunca discrimino a sus trabajadores, y al menos a él le interesaba la animación más que a cualquiera de los nuevos escritores involucrados. Fue gracias a él por lo cual existen muchos animadores y creadores talentosos. 

Hatewatching, Reboots y shows woke son lo que tenemos hoy en día en el entretenimiento moderno. No es malo tener representación, pero lo malo es que tanto adultos como infantes tienen que dar el mensaje victimista de las minorías oprimidas e imponer el odio hacia el hombre blanco. No es como en las viejas épocas de los 90's o 2000’s donde mínimo intentaban dar mensajes positivos de igualdad y tolerancia que iban dirigidos a todo público.
No digo que no existan buenas animaciones actualmente. Series como Smiling Friends y Primal de Genndy Tartakovsky han demostrado ser animaciones buenísimas en sus respectivos apartados de comedia y acción; y en el lado de las películas/cortometrajes tenemos un catálogo mucho más amplio en donde se permite mucho la libertad creativa dando resultados hermosos como El Gato con botas: el último deseo, Robot Dreams, Spiderman across the spiderverse, etc. 

Ren y Stimpy fue una serie que se arriesgó con su rebeldía, animación y humor. Muchas personas trabajaron duro para convertirla en la serie que es hoy por hoy. Tanto en la era Spumco como en la era Games Animation, estos artistas y escritores lograron algo único que influenciaría a toda una generación de artistas y escritores.

Talento existe en todas partes del mundo y por eso quiero que todos tengan mentes abiertas y dejen que más gente se exprese. No lo hagan por William Wray ni por Ren y Stimpy sino por el amor al arte y por el futuro de la animación que debe de verse como un medio para expresar ese arte. Eso es algo por lo cual quiero luchar y por eso hago esta petición para que este grupo de escritores fraudulentos estén en la lista negra, o que cambien y dejen que el viejo equipo regrese y dejen de discriminarlos. Así se ponen las pilas para hacer un reboot digno para darle un merecido regreso a esta serie. Tienen una opcion Awesome Inc.
