Australians Say No to a US War in the Middle East

The issue

In the past, Australia has joined the United States in multiple Middle Eastern conflicts. These wars have cost lives, strained resources, and left lasting impacts on service members, families, and communities.

Many Australians do not want our nation drawn into another overseas conflict that is not directly about defending Australia.

Australia is a sovereign nation. Decisions about war should reflect the interests and will of the Australian people, not automatic alignment with another country’s military actions.

Our country faces significant challenges at home: healthcare, housing, education, infrastructure, and support for veterans. Australians deserve transparency and democratic accountability when decisions about war are made.

The human cost of war is enormous. Lives are lost, families are changed forever, and veterans often carry the physical and psychological consequences for decades.

Australia should prioritise diplomacy, humanitarian leadership, and peace-building efforts rather than further military escalation.

We call on the Australian Government to commit that Australia will not participate in any United States-led war in the Middle East without full parliamentary debate and the clear support of the Australian people.

Australia must choose peace, sovereignty, and responsible leadership.
