Australia's bush fires this summer show our future, and the world's, unless carbon emissions are rapidly reduced. Governments globally must act together but none are doing enough. Federal governments in many of the major emitting countries, including Australia and the USA, have no policy and are actively blocking phase out of fossil fuels.

The Morrison Government in Australia has no policy framework for reduction of carbon emissions. They propose accounting tricks to meet Paris Agreement targets yet the Department of Environment and Energy projects 2030 emissions will be virtually unchanged from presents levels. They propose taxpayers underwrite investments in new fossil fuel projects. They propose Royal Commissions to investigate whether climate change is a factor in today's and future bush fires to give them another two years of policy delay. They don't accept the advice of Australia's Chief Scientist. They lie about the cost of renewable energy ... it's far cheaper than coal or gas.

Australia has a government actively working against the interest of the nation and its people.

In May 2019 the Morrison led Coalition unexpectedly won election with 5.9 million primary votes (41%) of voters. By far the majority of voters voted against the Coalition. More than 70% of Australians want strong emissions policy. Business has been calling for the same for many years because cheap renewable energy is the foundation for economic revival.

Send Morrison and world governments a message. Let's get far more than 5.9 million Australian signatures on this petition. Let's get a 100 million global signatures. A vote against Morrison's policies is a vote against Trump's.  Let's show them the power of democracy.
