Red Cross.. “don’t ditch it, re gift it” help save a home away from home for disabled kids
The issue
REDCROSS
Don’t ditch us, re gift our home!
Help save Lady Lawley Cottage
Give your support to apply pressure to the Australian Red Cross to do the right thing and not sell for profit a home away from home for WA’s sick and disabled children.
This iconic building was built specifically to serve the children of WA. Run for many years by its own dedicated committee it was gifted to the Red Cross to manage in the 1940’s on the understanding that the building would continue to be used for the benefit of WA children. Our fear is it will be sold to fill the coffers of this charitable organisation. Honour your promise Red Cross and ensure that Lady Lawley Cottage remains for future Western Australians.
**statement from a family impacted by the closure**
“The closure honestly made us feel so unimportant, disposable and invisible. Lady Lawley gave us the ability, to have a break physically and mentally from the stresses and tiredness of caring for our son for 24hrs a day. This was our only back up for his high needs support, we have no friends or family to help us, we only had Lady Lawley, they were our extended family that we relied on.
We are devestatingly lost without Lady Lawley.”
The 117 year tradition of the cottage and its history of service should be preserved.
