Cancel the Clinical exam of Australia Physiotherapy Council
The purpose of this petition is to advocate for the cancellation of the clinical component of the APC exam. As pointed out by the Australian Physiotherapy Association in their official statement, the APC clinical exam is not the only way to assess the competency of Physiotherapists.
Anyone who is eligible to complete this clinical exam has already undergone numerous assessments that prove they are qualified to practice physiotherapy in Australia.
Australian physiotherapy schools have extremely high standards that are nationally regulated. Internationally educated candidates have had their education approved to meet these standards through a rigorous assessment by the APC. All candidates have successfully completed the written APC.
The APC clinical exam has become an unjust financial, mental, physical, and emotional burden on hundreds of highly skilled physiotherapists.
Other colleges have changed regulations in light of the pandemic and it is time for Australian physiotherapy colleges to do the same. In the Covid pandemic situation, in Australia, the overseas occupational therapists, get their full license after 6 months of limited registration. This petition calls on the provincial regulatory colleges to immediately suspend the requirement of the clinical component of the APC for full Physiotherapy licensure.
Or there are some alteration options, need it to reviewed and updated it
1st point: Save the Pass exam until finish our process without an expiration date, Not go back to the passed exam again. As no point to repeat the same exam again as the same material and the same physiotherapist and It will speed up the processing time.
2nd point: unlimited the APC Written and clinical exams attempts
3rd point: Availability to do the exam in each state
4th point: Any bridging course or Placement instead of the exams
